Terms
The agreement between you and Klimbo
Version 0.4, draft, 16 October 2026, not yet read by a lawyer. Applies from the opening to the account, the app and the subscription. For the waiting list only the privacy statement applies.
This is a translation of the Dutch text. If the two differ, the Dutch text applies.
Who you make this agreement with
Klimbo is a service of Ginn Education B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under number 90280903, at Elisabethpark 11, 4872 BM Etten-Leur. In these terms we call Ginn Education B.V. simply Klimbo. Klimbo will soon move to a company of its own; what that means for you is under "If Klimbo passes to another company".
Questions go to luuk@upyourself.nl.
What Klimbo is
Klimbo is an online practice programme for maths, spelling and reading in Dutch for children in groep 7 and 8, with explanations and hints from an AI tutor. A parent or carer creates and manages the account; the child practises with a link code on a device of their own.
Klimbo is extra practice. It does not replace a teacher, gives no school advice and is not a test. What you see in the dashboard is a starting point for practice, not a judgement of your child.
Account and consent
You create an account as the parent or legal guardian of the child, and you are eighteen or older. Before a child profile becomes active, you give explicit consent to the processing of your child's first name, groep and practice data, as described in the privacy statement. Without that consent the child cannot practise. You can always withdraw your consent by deleting the profile or the account.
You are responsible for keeping your password and the PIN for parent mode secret.
Subscription and price
The starting check and the first session are free. After that, a subscription is needed to practise. Your child's map (called the Klimkaart in the app) always stays visible.
The price is per child per month or per year, with a discount from the second child: the first child costs the full price, every further child a lower amount. You pay for the number of active child profiles in your account. If you add or remove a child, the amount changes at the next payment. With a yearly subscription, for a child who joins you pay once the rate for a further child, pro rata for the days of that year that are left, through the mandate you gave when you signed up; you receive an email about this in advance. The current prices, including those for a second and further child, are on klimbo.nl and include VAT. As long as there is no price there, nobody pays.
You pay through Mollie (iDEAL or credit card) on the website; you cannot pay in the apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. A monthly subscription is charged automatically every month and can be cancelled every month.
You pay for a yearly subscription in one go, for twelve months. After those twelve months we do not silently renew it for another year: it carries on as a monthly subscription at the monthly price that applies then, and you can cancel every month. If you want another year after that, let us know before the end of the year.
If a payment fails, your child can carry on practising for seven more days. After that, your child only sees the map until the payment is sorted.
Founding families and codes from Stichting Leergeld or your municipality
The first families who help build Klimbo (the founding families, with a number and a name in the app) do not pay. They practise without a subscription while the founding period runs; the other arrangements in these terms apply to them too. The founding offer is not a subscription: nothing is charged and there is nothing to cancel.
A founding family agrees with us that it talks with us for about twenty minutes every month about what could be better, reports what breaks, and that the child actually practises. The name the family fills in is shown in the app to other children; you choose that name yourself and can have it changed or removed.
The founding period has an end. Klimbo announces the end by email at least thirty days in advance; after that the regular terms apply and the family decides for itself whether to take out a subscription. If the monthly call is missed twice in a row, or the child does not practise for two months, Klimbo first sends an email; if there is no reply, the founding agreement ends and the account goes onto the regular waiting list. In both cases the family's data simply stays, and nothing is charged for the period that has passed.
If you have received a code from Stichting Leergeld or your municipality, your child practises without payment for the period that goes with the code. Klimbo only sends the organisation that issued the code numbers, never names or results of children.
The test programme
Once we offer it: the test programme is a one-off programme of eight weeks around a test, for a one-off price. It stops by itself after eight weeks and does not renew. The same cooling-off period applies to the test programme as to a subscription, pro rata for the days that have already passed.
Price changes
The price for the first paying families is an introductory price; later the price may go up. We announce a price change by email at least thirty days in advance. For a monthly subscription, the new price starts at the first payment after those thirty days; if you do not want that, you can cancel before that date. For a running yearly subscription, the price only changes after the twelve months are over.
Cooling-off period
As a consumer you have a cooling-off period of fourteen days after taking out a subscription or the test programme. When you sign up, you explicitly ask us to start straight away, so that your child can practise at once; you receive a confirmation of this by email. If you withdraw within fourteen days, we refund the amount minus a proportional part for the days already used. You withdraw by emailing luuk@upyourself.nl; you get your money back within fourteen days, in the same way you paid.
Cancelling and deleting
You cancel in the app under Subscription, or by sending an email to luuk@upyourself.nl. After you cancel, the subscription runs until the end of the paid period; nothing more is charged and you get no money back for the remaining days. You can delete your account and all your family's data at any time. That happens straight away and cannot be undone; a running subscription is cancelled with it.
Twelve months after a subscription ends, we delete an inactive family automatically.
Email from Klimbo
Your account comes with messages about your child's practice: the confirmation of your account, the report after the starting check, a few emails in the first two months about how it is going, and personal notes from the team. They are part of the service and you can always reply to them.
You only get a weekly summary and tips or offers if you switch them on yourself under Settings. Every email of that kind has a link to switch it off with one click.
Referring friends
Every family has its own share link. If another family comes to Klimbo through that link and starts paying, there may be a reward for it. Whether there is a reward, and how big it is, is in the referral terms at klimbo.nl/en/terms/referrals; as long as nothing is there, there is no reward. Children do not take part in referring and see nothing of it.
What you can expect from us
We do our best to keep Klimbo available at all times, but cannot guarantee that it works without interruption. Where possible, we announce maintenance in advance. We update the content and the way it works regularly; what your child sees may change because of that.
Explanations, hints and encouragement were written with the help of AI and checked by people in advance. Klimbo decides right or wrong, level and progress with fixed rules, not with AI. Your child cannot type freely to an AI anywhere.
What we expect from you
Only use Klimbo for the practice of your own child or a child you are the carer of. Do not share your account with others, and do not try to disrupt, copy or misuse the service.
Liability
Klimbo is an aid to practice. We are not liable for school results or for decisions made on the basis of the dashboard. In all cases our liability is limited to the amount you paid Klimbo in the last twelve months.
Complaints
If something is not right, email luuk@upyourself.nl. If we cannot work it out, you can go to a court in the Netherlands.
If Klimbo passes to another company
Klimbo is being placed in a company of its own. Ginn Education B.V. may transfer this agreement, together with the whole Klimbo service, to a company in the same group or to a successor that continues Klimbo. You will hear about this by email at least thirty days in advance. Your arrangements, your subscription and the consent you gave stay exactly the same; the new company takes over all obligations, and you can cancel every month as always.
Changes and law
We may change these terms. With an important change you receive an email at least thirty days in advance. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the date it takes effect. Dutch law applies to these terms.
Questions about these terms go to luuk@upyourself.nl.
